As a social media manager and strategist who has worked in the industry for 4+ years, the no. 1 thing I tell people is consistency matters. But what does this look like for you? Most people stress about what consistency looks like and they wonder how to be consistent on social media. Let’s dive into this.
The difference between frequency and consistency:
Knowing how to be consistent on social media can be hard but consistency and frequency in posting are not the same things.
Consistency is about the amount of frequency with which you can avoid burnout while reaching your audience the most.

Consistency is all about balance.
This is what frequency looks like: posting 5 days a week. It is only about the number of times “schedule post” is clicked. It is not about the quality of content or growing a community. Rather frequency is in essence, “getting the deed done”.
Hear this: it is better to post one time a week about something your community can relate to than post three times a week because a social media person told you to…
Consistency is about showing up for the community you are building. It may sound cliche but social media is meant to be social. Ask yourself why you want to build a community (and please dig deeper than $$$).
So, what does consistency (in this season) look like?
First, disclaimer: consistency can and SHOULD look different in different seasons of your life and the life of your business.
Second, it’s going to be different when you outsource social media versus when you are running a business and trying to do social media on your own. Set appropriate expectations, you’re running a business and social media is only an aspect of what you do. Psst, hiring a social media manager as soon as you can afford to will provide consistency minus any potential burnout or overwhelm to get there.
